The Duchess of Cornwall visits Avoca

There was great excitement in Avoca Village in County Wicklow today. The Duchess of Cornwall called in on this beautiful region of Ireland as part of the royal’s two-day visit to the Republic of Ireland. Whilst Prince Charles visited The National Botanic Gardens in Kilmacurragh, County Wicklow, The Duchess visited Avoca Handweavers and met with some of the locals on Ireland's Ancient East.

The Duchess of Cornwall visits AvocaBernie Ivers of Cherrybrook Bed and Breakfast was one of the lucky locals who got to meet Camilla. She said that the Duchess' visit was a closely guarded secret and she was actually oblivious to it. She was out walking when she heard that Camilla was in the Avoca Shop. Herself and a group of ladies went to have a look and the royal’s security guard approached them and said that the Duchess would like to meet with some locals.

Bernie had a lovely conversation with the Duchess, who said that she had heard about Avoca and was looking forward to having a browse around the gift shop and taking the Mill Tour. The Duchess also said that she was very excited to come to Avoca.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are no strangers to Ireland, this being their fifth visit in five years. Their next stop is Northern Ireland, but they leave behind lovely memories for the locals in Avoca.

Danabel Porridge Bread Recipe

I started making my Porridge Bread about a year ago. It was so popular with guests that I carried on making it. Now, I make it everyday and leave it on the breakfast table for my guests to help themselves. I am always complimented on how tasty it is. The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it is so easy to prepare, yet so delicious!
