Winter Breaks in Ireland

The Emerald Isle is a fantastic holiday destination all year round but there is something extra special about a winter break in Ireland!  As the clocks turn back, the dewy mornings, fresh crisp air and earlier nights make for a wonderful, cosy atmosphere.

City Breaks

Winter Breaks in IrelandCities in Ireland, such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford, are the perfect locations for a winter break. These cities are compact enough to be explored on foot, allowing you wrap-up and immerse yourself in the stunning architecture and must-see attractions. All cities in Ireland are steeped in history and culture so there’s plenty to experience during the day. By night, you can enjoy a cosy meal in one of the many restaurants, visit a traditional Irish pub or take in the theatre.

Country Breaks

Winter Breaks in IrelandAlthough the daylight hours are fewer during the Irish winter, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of your scenic surroundings. There is nothing nicer in winter in Ireland than to wrap up and go for a refreshing walk along a beach or for a stroll through the local town or village. The perfect end to the perfect day is to stop off in one of the charming cafes or pubs to enjoy a famous Irish coffee.

The Winter B&B Experience

There is nothing better than snuggling up beside an open turf fire with a hot cup of tea after a day out and about in the Irish wintertime. Irish B&Bs in winter are a haven of warmth and relaxation. With the comfortable beds, tasty breakfasts and delicious home-baking, B&B accommodation makes your winter break that extra bit special.

Christmastime in Ireland is really something else. Towns and villages come alive with the glow of the Christmas lights, shop windows are adorned with delightful seasonal displays and there is an indescribable buzz in the air. From the pop-up ice rinks, Christmas festivals and shopping extravaganzas, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
