Teatime at Vandees B&B

B&B hosts, Jean Paul and NoreenThe Vandees B&B – Craigavon, Co Armagh in Northern Ireland

Guests are in for a real treat when they stay at The Vandees Bed and Breakfast. Not only is our home in a stunning location in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, it is also a relaxing haven with an unusual twist...it’s always teatime at The Vandees B&B!

Our B&B Beginning

Jean Paul and I, Noreen, met in Bangkok when I worked as a long-haul cabin crew worker and he was also working for British Airways. As I am from Northern Ireland, we decided to move back to my homeland and as we both love meeting people, chose to open a Bed and Breakfast. We just felt like it was the perfect fit for our personalities. We both really enjoy looking after guests and making sure that they have the ultimate B&B experience. We have been welcoming guests for a few years now and we have loved every minute of it. Jean Paul speaks six languages, so guests feel at home straight away!

Nettle Tea

We both have interesting pastimes, Jean Paul enjoys acting and I have an interest in using nettles to make tea, biscuits and cordials. I always leave a supply in our guests’ bedrooms as a welcoming treat. Family, friends and guests were enjoying my nettle tea so much, that my passion has turned into a business venture and my tea has just won a gold star Great Taste Award from the Guild of Fine Foods London.

My inspiration for making nettle tea came from my great grandmother who swore by its benefits. I grew up watching her making it and when nettles sprung up in our garden a couple of years ago, I decided that I would start making my own nettle tea. Nettle tea is rich in vitamins and minerals and is highly recommended for its nutritional and medicinal values. Our overseas guests love my nettle tea so much that they even bring it home as gifts for their family and friends. My nettles have literally gone all over the world!

Taste the Island

It means so much to be able to use local Northern Ireland products in our business and have our guests enjoy the exceptional food and drink experiences of our region. We also use local produce for our delicious breakfast menu and I make my own soda and banana bread.

There’s so much to explore in our region and Jean Paul and I will be delighted to let you know about the wonderful places that you can visit including the popular tourist attractions, picturesque walks, fishing and cycling routes and hidden gems. We look forward to your visit and I will make sure to have the kettle on!

When you stay at West Coast House on Achill Island in County Mayo, you will have the opportunity to taste the island’s delicacy of smoked salmon.  The salmon is reared in pristine waters off Clare Island/Achill and is prepared and oak smoked at Keem Bay Fish Products, which is just 0.4km from our bed and breakfast.
