Top things to do in Ireland during the Autumn months | B&B Ireland

Are you planning a break in Ireland this Autumn but wondering about activities during this time of year? Ireland gets some of the most beautiful weather in Autumn with bright sunny days and balmy Autumnal evenings, perfect for outdoor activities and getting back to nature. We have some top tips for those who are planning an Autumn break. We can’t guarantee the weather but we can guarantee that you will receive a warm welcome when you stay in any of our B&Bs throughout Ireland.

1. Forests and National Parks

As the leaves turn into beautiful shades of green, red, gold and brown, there could not be a better time of year to visit one of Ireland’s forests or National Parks. Killarney National Park or Glenveagh National Park are both home to some of the world’s most unique flora and fauna, as well as vast expanses of forestry for you to explore.

2. Caving in Ireland

For an unusual day out, why not tune into your adventurous side and go underground to explore some of Ireland’s caves. Ireland’s caves have a magical atmosphere and your guide will tell you about stalactites, stalacmites and pillars as you make your way through the caves. Some of Ireland’s most famous caves include Marble Arch in County Fermanagh, Ailwee Cave and the Doolin Cave in Clare.

3. Wrap Up and Hit the Beach!

Ireland has some breathtaking beaches that are well worth enjoying during Autumn. Wrap up and take your family to the nearest beach for some fun and frolics. Pack a picnic and plan a long walk. Invest in a good wet suit and you can take part in water sports all year round and in all weather conditions. There’s always a wealth of affordable bed and breakfast accommodation near Irish beaches.

4. Animal Magic

Get in touch with your wild side at Fota Wildlife Park, only 15 minutes from Cork City or Dublin Zoo and you will see animals and birds from all over the world! Visit the rare birds of prey at Glenveagh National Park in Donegal. If you prefer the exotic ocean creatures of an aquarium, visit Dingle Oceanworld, Galway Atlantaquaria, or Lahinch Seaworld.

5. Go Farming!

Visit an Irish Farm with a B&B Ireland Farmstay Holiday. Bake fresh Irish scones with the lady of the house, feed the chickens, cows and horses, gather wild berries and participate in a home made jam making lesson. Go back to nature with an Irish Farm break while you relax in the comfort of a warm friendly working farm environment. Many farms are Pet Friendly so you can bring along your favourite feline friend or pet pooch!

6. Irish Heritage and Culture

Ireland is steeped in history – castles, churches, tombs, storytelling, music and dance – something for the mind and the soul.  B&B Ireland Bed and Breakfast hosts will have brochures on site and can pre-book tickets, tours and exhibitions and will let you know which pub has the best Seisún with tales and songs of old Ireland.  You’ll drift off to sleep that night tapping your feet!!!

7. Get Your Body Moving!

Ireland has a fantastic choice of activities to get you moving, from watersports, horse riding, cycling, walking, rock climbing, orienteering sailing, hiking, cycling and much more, you will have the time of your life feeling invigorated and refreshed.
