The Celtic Coast

This final section of the exploration route covers the counties of Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford and East Cork.

The Celtic Coast - Ireland's Ancient EastHook Head is one its main appeals, as not only is it Europe’s oldest lighthouse, but it is located on Hook Peninsula which gives rise to some of the most breath-taking views in all of the land. Glendalough should also be added to the itinerary as it is one of the most important monastic sites around, and lays claim to a cathedral, six churches and a round tower, all set around the tranquillity of the area’s twin lakes. Finally, Waterford City is well worth a visit, being Ireland’s oldest city. It is steeped in history and culture, but also is a modern hub, with a fantastic range of shops, restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
