Malin Head
Malin Head, located at the top of the Inishowen Peninsula will provide visitors with lasting memories due to the rugged coastline and dramatic views out across the Atlantic Ocean. It’s an area of scenic beauty where birdlife flock to, from Iceland, Greenland and North America. It’s an ideal location for bird-watchers as rare species have been identified here, such as the Black-Browed Albatross. Interestingly, Malin Head is home to a selection of Ireland’s oldest rocks
and has the highest sand-dunes in Europe, making
it an area of great geological importance.
Fanad
Fanad is another key point along the Wild Atlantic Way and is approximately 145km down from Malin Head. There are an abundance of walking and cycling trails along the route, the perfect way to appreciate the stunning panoramic views. Fanad Lighthouse sits on the western shore of the peninsula and is well worth a visit as it was voted the 2nd most beautiful lighthouse in the world in 2013!
Sliabh Liag
Sliabh Liag is a walker’s paradise as it boasts some of the highest and most impressive marine cliffs in Europe. Their outstanding natural beauty and the views out across the Atlantic Ocean will astound you. At the peak of this 600m high sea cliff, you will have
amazing views of the Sligo Mountains and Donegal Bay.
