Waterford Film Festival

Monday 2oth November - Sunday 26th November - The Waterford Film Festival is a promotion and celebration of film-making and script writing. It attracts filmmakers from all across the globe, including Ireland, the UK, France, Germany and even as far as the USA and Canada. The festival was originally set up in 2007 by local talent Stephen Byrne who wanted to create a platform for independent films. Fifteen years later, the event is bigger and better than ever, creating new interest in a whole variety of films.

A Cultural Celebration

Waterford City is Ireland’s oldest city and it known for its fascinating history and culture. For this reason, it is the ideal location for such a cultural celebration and provides a beautiful setting for the festival. Most screening will take place in Garter Lane Arts Centre, showcasing a great selection of short films on full cinema screen with surround sound.

Festival-goers get the opportunity to appreciate an excellent range of talent, including feature films, documentaries, animations, short films, as well as some experimental and student work. The event sets out to recognise outstanding projects by awarding both Best Short Film and Best Screen Play.
