Meet your host…

Jean Paul Van der Velde

We have been welcoming guests into our B@B for over 6 years now. We enjoy meeting guests from all around the world and have made many friends over the years. Guests can be assured of a warm friendly welcome as well as some home baked goods!Noreen's nettle tea has become a guest favourite along with her homemade nettle hair tonic which are both available to purchase during your stay. You can also meet Mollie the dog.

Aghalee
BT67 0EZ

A decidedly different B&B located in a tranquil area of the beautiful Northern Ireland countryside where the emphasis is based on creating experiences and memories rather than just a bed for the night. Guests can expect a welcome glass of wine or tea and coffee, homemade goodies and a breakfast using local produce only from the nearby award winning butcher McCartney's of Moira.

The area is peaceful and quiet for those seeking relaxation and to experience rural life. Aghalee is situated on the Route 94 National Cycle Network and guests can enjoy a picturesque walk, fishing or cycling along the nearby Broadwater. Good restaurants are within a 2-3 mile radius and you will find good coffee shops etc in Moira village which is only 4 miles away.

Moira train station is 3 miles away where a 22min train journey will take to to the bright lights of Belfast city centre. A drop off and pick up to the train station can be arranged. The Vandees is centrally located for exploring most of the major tourist attractions in NI.

the Vandees was by far the best B&B we stayed in on our trip to Ireland. A our B&B stays booked through B&B Ireland were very good but the Vandees was exceptional. Our hosts Jean Paul (JP) and Noreen were one of the high lights of out Trip to Ireland and Scotland. Not only was the service they provided fantastic just chatting with them was most enjoyable. Our stay there was an unexpected pleasure. If we weren't on a schedule we could have stayed much longer. Don't miss out on this emerald on the Emerald Isle .

The Vandees was by far our most favorite stay of our trip. Welcomed by a glass of wine and great conversation. A lovely room and amazing food. We left feeling like we had made lifelong friends and are looking forward to staying there again.

The Vandees was our favorite B and B! The location was beautiful with nature’s beauty surrounding you. Norrie and JPs hospitality couldn’t be beat. From their eager to please personality to the delicious homemade breakfasts! They mapped out our journey into Northern Ireland and into Donegal. After two days with these incredible hosts we felt like a friendship had formed. Norrie’s nettle creations were a grand treat. We will be back ❤️

We stayed at several B&Bs on our Ireland trip, but JP and Noreen were the absolute best. Not only were they super friendly and welcoming, they went above and beyond by giving excellent recommendations on dinner and places to see for our last night. The room was spacious and bathroom was clean, this made our stay so comfortable and relaxing. Noreen cooked an amazing breakfast and let us choose what we'd like which was so sweet. I really wish we could have stayed with them the entire trip, we loved them (and their dog Molly) and the house so much! I would definitely recommend and would love to visit with them again.

We traveled through Ireland and stayed in quite a few B&Bs, but the Vandees was our absolute favorite. A warm welcome by JP and Noreen, who have been very good hosts. It was fun to meet a fellow Dutchman in Ireland. :) We had lots of chats and Noreen noted down lots of fun places to go to on a map which we kept with us during our travels through North-Ireland, thanks again for that Noreen! The room was big and very nice with a good bed. Bathroom very clean and unique, we really liked that. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and wished we stayed longer. Also really enjoyed Noreen's breakfast (Ulster Fry) which was delicious. We're happy we chose this as our breakfast while Noreen and JP also took account of our food preferences which we are thankful for!
