We spent three exceptional days and evening at the Torine House in Killorglin. Our hosts were gracious. Our room was neat and tidy. Our homemade breakfasts were perfect. During the days the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney National Park, and the Ring of Kerry were all a half hour away. For evenings an eight minute walk found us in a workaday Irish town with good restaurants and a great pub along with every day shops such as an Aldi’s to buy makings for picnic lunches. On the evening walks back to the Torine House on a clear night, we could see the Milky Way and search for constellations. We had an interesting talk with an English couple and fun with a young German couple. We were glad we stayed in a quiet Irish town rather than a tourist hub.

Clean room, but quite small and the bathroom/shower was very small. Catherine was quite lovely, kind and helpful in providing a recommendation for dinner. I've not stayed in many B&B's but from those that I have, I'm used to an open space where guests can sit and mingle outside of their assigned room. This guest house didn't have that so I was confined to my room while there. Maybe this is normal? I was also a little uncomfortable walking in the front door to find Catherine's husband sitting in the living room watching tv and yelling out that she had a guest. Overall, I believe the price was commensurate with the B&B.

Hi Heather I think you need to go back to the drawing board again re the last paragraph in your review as this was not my husband in the living room it was a regular guest watching a game and has been coming to my home for many years. Regards Catherine

This house had the perfect balance of homely and professional. Catherine was a very welcoming host and I loved the breakfast that she made. I would highly recommend this accommodation to others.

This was our third stop during our 17-day journey through Ireland. Directions to the Torine House were easy to follow and although we arrived well past check-in time (having so much fun at the Muckross), we were welcomed warmly and shown to our room(s). We stayed in #5 just at the top of the stairs, which is actually two suites connected. It was perfect for our needs. The bed was comfortable and the space was well-appointed and sparkling clean. The only possible negative is that the shower is extremely small, further exacerbated by the two sliding corner doors which make it impossible to check the water temp without being in the shower, or having the door open and spraying water into the room. Perhaps a swivel head on the shower would help? We did our best to avoid damaging the room. There is another shower in the second bathroom which we did not use, so that may be a better option. There was ample storage and counter space which we appreciate. Breakfast is a choice of Continental or Full Irish. Both are ample, fresh, and delicious. Be very hungry if you go for the Full Irish! The short walk into town was delightful; and Catherine's suggestion of Buskers restaurant point on (we went there twice, and the food/service was great). Thanks for a very nice stay!
