Gort Na Mona B&B

Very nice B&B in a beautiful setting. The room was very comfortable. Delicious breakfast!

We had a very pleasant stay at Gort Na Mona during the summer of 2026. We had a ground-floor room in a small annex behind the main house. The bed was comfortable, and the en-suite bathroom was perfectly clean and fully functional. Breakfast was continental, with the option to add hot savoury dishes. The eggs were excellent, produced by their own hens, which roam freely around the garden. The lovely little village of Ardara is only a few minutes away by car and offers a good selection of places for dinner or a beer. The hosts are very kind and welcoming. Three small suggestions for improvement: A) Improve the Wi-Fi coverage, which was too weak; B) Accept credit cards (they were not accepted in 2026, although bank transfers are possible), C) provide a way to reduce humidity in the bathroom/bedroom, even on the cooler, rainy summer days—which are not uncommon in Donegal.

We had a very warm welcome from Fiona and Lawrence. Fiona made us some wonderful breakfasts while Lawrence told us all we could see in the region. That was more than we had time for. :-) Nice room, good views, lovely chickens.
