Gill MacNamara

Gill will always provide you with a warm welcome. She enjoys making home baked produce and grows her own vegetables free from pesticides..Orchid House is situated on a working beef farm which husband, Pat manages, trying to maintain traditional farming practices which sustain the fragile environment of the Burren.Pat is also a keen photographer and has studied the flora of the Burren over a three year period.They are both committed to reducing the impact which tourism makes on the environment

Orchid House bed and breakfast is a modern country house located in Fanore on the outskirts of Ballyvaughan, County Clare. The energy efficient house is run by friendly hosts Pat and Gill MacNamara. There are four en-suite rooms on offer. Each is bright, tastefully decorated and comfortable with views of the countryside or Atlantic Ocean. The country-style dining room is bright and spacious with views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Guests can choose from an extensive menu which uses fresh fruit and vegetables hand grown by Gill. There is a cosy guest lounge with a stove and a beautifully manicured garden to relax in when weather permits.

How to get here

From Shannon take M18 towards Ennis. Follow signs to Ennistymon along the N67 till you reack Lisdoonvarna. Take the R477 coast road to Fanore and follow until you reach the stone sign for Fanore - Orchid House is 4km further along the road

Nous recommandons chaleureusement la maison de Gill, où nous avons trouvé chaleur humaine, cordialité et sincérité. La maison est bien aménagée, la chambre propre et agréable. Vue imprenable sur l’océan et le ballet des oiseaux devant la fenêtre. Petit déjeuner fait maison par Gill avec des produits frais. Quant au seul pub de Fanore, c’est aussi un excellent restaurant, peu onéreux, avec des plats copieux et bien cuisinés.

Orchid House is perfectly located in the Burren, the area of Doolin and Cliffs of Moher. The room was pretty and well-maintained, the Irish breakfast great. We would have appreciated more choice of hot drinks in the room as well as some milk. Our hosts were very friendly and they cared to share some words and experiences with us (French people), even if our English was not very good...

Gill and Pat run a super B & B, with great enthusiasm, recommendations, and a breakfast of great taste, variety fit for a king. Great view of Galway Bay and the Arran Islands from their doorstep. Highly recommended

Gill and Pat's B and B was our first and best place to stay in Ireland. Their home is set in the beautiful Burren with a wonderful view of the sea and the Aran Islands. Breakfast was made to order daily and Gill always had wonderful suggestions, geared to our wishes, as to what we might like to explore daily. We stayed for 5 days and wished we could stay more. Thank you for a wonderful Irish experience.
