Coolakay House is a very pleasant B&B, Yvonne is very friendly and helpful and looks very well after her guests. The B&B is the ideal basis for touring the Wicklow Mountains (the old military road), visiting Powerscourt and Kilruddery Castle, and it is close to Bray, Dalkey and Dun Laoghaire (the national Maritime Museum). The house (with a beautifully kept garden) is on a sheep farm, I was fortunate to talk to the owner and see him and his border collie in action with 200 sheep. He was so kind as to give me a guided tour of his extensive collection of tractors and agricultural machinery and told me many interesting stories about farming in past decades, stories that reminded me of what I heard in my own country, it must have been a hard life both in Flanders and in Ireland. And last but not least, the fields behind the farm lead to a hill from where one has a breathtaking view of the Wicklow Mountains, it is pure magic, and worth travelling from the other side of the world to see.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful, as are the views. We were only there for a quick overnight - so can't speak to much more. The room was small- but all we needed for one night. I would absolutely go back for the views alone.

We loved staying at Yvonne's! The house is beautifully located in the countryside and is a great starting point for walks with great views. Some of the things I liked the most about our stay were the quiet and beautiful garden with comfy seating, Yvonne's hospitality, feeding the ponies, and soaking in the bathtub after a long day. The amazing view from our room should also be mentioned. I would definitely love to visit again and recommend this place to anyone wishing to explore the Wicklow Mountains region.

This was a perfect place to stay on my first evening on the Wicklow Way. There is a local taxi man who can give you a lift to and from the trail. Yvonne was really welcoming and the room was comfortable.
