Ideal for fans of the John Ford film The Quiet Man, the village of Cong, where the film was made, is just 2km from the cosy bed and breakfast. Visitors can even explore the Quiet Man Cottage Museum, take a guided tour of the film’s locations and discover more about the famous 1950s film. Golf, lake cruises and picturesque walks are also on the doorstep.

How to get here

• If you are coming from the North/Ballinrobe, after the village of The Neale watch out for the turn off for Cong to the right. At the Ashford Castle Entrance Gate/Towers turn left and watch out, at the end of the high wall on the right, for the turn off on the right for Michaeleen’s Manor B&B. Turn right onto the Quay Road/Lisloughrey/Strandhill. Michaeleen’s Manor B&B is on the left.
• If you are coming from the South/East/Galway, in Cross watch out for the turn off to the left for Cong. After 2 miles you’ll see Fahy Car Sales on the right, then after the bend in the road you will see a sign for Corrib Cruises to the left and Michaeleen’s Manor B&B to the left at the start of a high wall. Turn left onto the Quay Road/Lisloughrey/Strandhill. Michaeleen’s Manor B&B is on the left.
• If you are coming from the West/Connemara, come through Cong village and at the stone cross in the middle of the road, take a left and once you pass the Ashford Castle Entrance Gate/Towers on the right slow down and watch out, at the end of the high wall on the right, for the turn off on the right for Michaeleen’s Manor B&B. Turn right onto the Quay Road/Lisloughrey/Strandhill. Michaeleen’s Manor B&B is on the right.

Great accommodation. Spacious room and excellent breakfasts friendly owners. Good distance to beautiful town with lots to see and explore. Would highly recommend this B & B.

Michaeleen's Manor was a wonderful experience! The room and bathroom was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We came to Cong Village because of the filming of the Quiet Man in this location. The host, Gerry Collins, has a vast collection of memorabilia related to the Quiet Man in the B&B which was quite interesting. He and his staff were very gracious and welcoming.

Clean, new construction, no bathroom supplies so bring your own. No sitting room to visit with other guests, we stood in the hallway to chat since the kitchen/dining room was locked except for breakfast. No air circulation so we did open the windows at night despite the sign not to. Breakfast was delicious, our hosts Gerry and Margaret were quite lovely to chat with. If you're a John Wayne fan, this is the place to go. The city of Cong was all about The Quiet Man movie. We did enjoy the tour and town.
