Meet your host…

Chris & Claire Gotto

Chris and Claire inherited the house from his parents and are gradually making it their own. Chris ran the family farm next door until his son was ready to take over, while Claire has a background in history and is an avid gardener. You'll usually find her outdoors and him in the kitchen. They love having guests and will happily ply you with tea and coffee while they talk you through all County Cork has to offer.

I wish that I could give an accurate description of Willow House but we received an email on the day that we were driving there that she had overbooked (not sure how this happened as we booked with the B&B site) and we were sent to her friend's house. I was not given an option and considering that we were not given any notice we really didn't have a choice but to agree to the arrangements. I was assured that they were on the registry, but I scoured the internet and the bandbireland website and could not find a listing to be able to compare the locations, yet I was still charged for the full rate. This was quite disappointing. The couple that we stayed with were exceptionally sweet and did everything that they could to accommodate us and made us feel very welcome. For this I feel very lucky because I had no way of verifying that they were a legitimate establishment. Their home is nice and the room was comfortable, however as I am reading the previous reviews for Willow House, I do not feel that we received the same caliper of accommodations as that for which we reserved and were charged.

I enjoyed my stay at Willowhill House very much. Christopher and Claire are the best hosts I met on my trip through Ireland. Their attention is heartwarming. The breakfast is very delicious (a mix of buffet and fresh cooked breakfast served individually) … also the best I had on my trip. I also enjoyed the chats and the lot of informations and recommendations I got. And I have to mention here, although Willowhill is not a modern, new built house compared to others, more modern and newer ones, I stayed, everything (water, heating, flush …) worked perfectly. it’s really a charming house, I fell in love with. Aaaah … and the cakes and sweets I got with my afternoon tea, were also very yummy.
