Review Score: Superb 9.3/10

Meet your host…

Eamonn Bowler

We have been in the B&B business for about seven years and love it. We enjoy meeting people and informing them about our lovely area and telling them about different things they can do such as going to Skellig Island and Valentia Island. All the different walks around the area, and also our lovely beaches.

Strandsend

Superbly located on the beautiful Ring of Kerry, Strandsend is a cosy haven and the ideal County Kerry getaway. Just three minutes’ drive from Cahersiveen, guests can enjoy swimming, cycling, mountaineering, golf, diving and shopping. There are also many archaeological sites to visit, as well as the historical Royal Irish Constabulary barracks that date back to the 1800s. Hosts Joan and Eamonn Bowler provide storage facilities for fishing enthusiasts and have a diversity of local knowledge and information on outdoor pursuits to share.  Please be aware we have a cat  who is in the house sometimes, if you have an allergy to cats this is not the B&B for you, Joan.

How to get here

The house is 58km from Killarney. Take the N70 from Killarney/Killorglin/Glenbeigh/Kells/Deelis Bridge. The house is 3.2km from Cahersiveen on the Ring of Kerry - on the left side if approaching from Killarney. Stay on main Rd, do not divert on to small rd. We are just a few doors from Thatched Cottage restaurant. If you pass us out, just come back a few houses.

We will be married 30 years in November so this was an Anniversary trip for us. We had never stayed at a B&B so we did not know what to expect. WOW...we were so happy with our 2-night stay here. Eamonn and Joan could not have made us feel more welcomed!!! Eamonn even made us our delicious breakfast (get the salmon!) a half-hour earlier so we could leave early for the Michael Skellig Island tour...which we absolutely loved! The breakfast was absolutely wonderful with fruit and homemade break with so much to choose from. The house was very lovely and our room was very spacious with a comfortable bed!! Thank you Eamonn and Joan for being such wonderful hosts!!!

Eammon and Joan are very nice people. Standsend is a lovely home and they made us feel as part of the family. The view is beautiful and we actually looked at the view outside by the car just to take it in. Breakfast was amazing and I love cheese and they had a real variety to pick from. Still can taste it. Hope to return.

Helpful hosts. Excellent breakfast and recommendations for dinner. Room was a little small but has all the required amenities. We weren't hiking but would recommend to hikers as it is on the Kerry ring and seems set up to especially cater to them (e.g. wood floors, easy to clean furniture, etc.)
