Karen Haynes shares her B&B holiday experience

This month’s insight into the Irish B&B experience comes from Karen Haynes, who is originally from Birmingham in England, but now resides in Maryland in the USA. Karen has been to Ireland many times and tells us why she chooses to stay in B&B accommodation.

Q: What was your favourite part of your B&B stay?

A: The friendliness of the B&B hosts, and the variety of accommodations available throughout Ireland. I have been to Ireland several times before, once for a long weekend (Dublin and Galway) and the others just for the day from Holyhead! It’s not as easy to visit Ireland as it was, as we moved from England to the USA 7 years ago!

Q: How did your host help to make your stay enjoyable?

A: We stayed in several different Bed and Breakfasts in counties Meath, Sligo, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny and Wicklow, and we found that all of the hosts were very welcoming and friendly.

Q: Reasons why you would recommend staying in an Irish B&B?

A: I would recommended staying in an Irish B&B because I will definitely stay again myself! In fact, we’ll hopefully be visiting again next year. Last time we came to Ireland, we travelled as a couple but I’m hoping to bring family and friends too.

Q: What was your most memorable holiday experience in Ireland?

A: I absolutely loved the scenery in Ireland – it is outstanding. So too is the ancient historical sites. The last time we came to Ireland, we wanted to visit historic sites, such as Bru na Boinne, Dun Aonghasa, Glendalough, etc which we did and they were all incredible. Another highlight was the Irish people who are some of the friendliest and most genuine people I have ever come across. We also went to two concerts while we were there as we absolutely love the music scene in Ireland!
