The Sperrins
The Sperrins are an area of stunning natural beauty and boast an extensive range of walking and cycling trails that cater to all levels of experience. The heather-clad mountain range, which spans an impressive 40 miles, boasts a fantastic range of different terrains, including quiet valleys and boggy uplands. The Sperrins are home to the Cavancaw Gold Mine and also to 90 sets of stone circles, including the famous Beaghmore Stone Circles, whose alignments correlate to the movements of the sun, moon and stars.
Walking Trails
An example of the many fantastic walking trails on offer is that of An Créagan Forest and River Trail which is approximately 3.5 miles in length. The circular trail is suitable for all the family and is well signposted along the way. It brings you through the beautiful Creggan Forest and you will enjoy magnificent views of the Sperrin Mountains throughout. On completion of this peaceful trail, you can pop into the An Créagan Visitors Centre where you can relax in the fantastic restaurant and have a browse through the craft shop.
Must-do Activities
Other must-do activities when visiting Co Tyrone include the Ulster American Folk Park, Lissan House, Castle Caulfield and Peatlands Park to name but a few. Tyrone is also home to many top-class restaurants and cafes, fantastic shopping centres and friendly pubs for some live music entertainment in the evenings. Last week I had the pleasure of experiencing the Gobbins Coastal Walk and all I can say is 'what a spectacular tourist attraction'. From the breathtaking scenery to the wonderfully delivered tour, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Laune Mountaineering Club are holding their inaugural Walking Festival in Killorglin Co Kerry on weekend 12th -14th September 2014, this is coinciding with the local festival Flavour of Killorglin which is a celebration of culinary delights of the Mid Kerry Region, with great food and entertainment for all visitors.
