Mulled Wine | 12 Days of Christmas Recipes
We've had Guinness, we've had Baileys. So it would be rude not to celebrate Christmas with a glass of mulled wine. Mary Lipsett from The Mountain Inn B&B in Sligo was kind enough to send in this festive mulled wine recipe which she made for a gang of customers in their pub last Christmas and they all loved it! It didn't take too long to make and was a fine Christmas treat to their customers eyes.
Ingredients
-
750ml bottle Cab Sauvignon/Merlot
-
1 orange, peeled and sliced
-
2/3 cup of honey OR 2/3 cup of sugar
-
1/4 cup of brandy
-
3 cinnamon sticks
-
8 whole cloves (add more to taste)
-
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
Method
-
Combine all ingredients and cook on a low heat cooker for 25/30 minutes until wine begins to steam and before it boils.
-
You could also put the cloves and garlic in a cheesecloth bag to keep the mixture a little tidier looking.
We'd like to thank Mary for taking the time to send us in this tasty Christmas recipe and wish you all a Merry Christmas! Make sure to check out The Mountain Inn Bed and Breakfast.
