Walking holiday in Cork

Cork has some of the best walking routes in Ireland. There are 40 designated waymark trails alone, not to mention countless unofficial walks. If you are planning a walking holiday in Ireland why not check out some of Corks scenic walking routes.  Some of the more popular routes are the Sheeps Head Area, The Beara Way, The Blackwater Way and the The Ballyhoura Way.

Suggested walking routes in Cork

The Beara Way walking route is a circuit of the Beara Peninsula following side roads, bog roads and tracks, taking in all that is special about the area. There are also a number of excellent waymarked looped trails to be discovered on the Beara Peninsula.

Sheep’s Head Way has been chosen as the best walk in Ireland by Country Walking magazine. The walk is 90KM's (55 miles) long and has a huge variety of terrain all with breathtaking views. Sheep’s Head has also been awarded the title of European Destination of Excellence – Tourism and Protected Areas

The Blackwater Way stretches for 188KM’s and has been formed by combining two separate routes all the way from Clogheen in County Tipperary to Muckross in County Kerry. Comprising of the Knockmealdown Mountains, the Blackwater Valley, the Nagle Hills and Paps Mountains.

Laune Mountaineering Walking Festival

Laune Mountaineering Club are holding their inaugural Walking Festival in Killorglin Co Kerry on weekend 12th -14th  September 2014,  this is coinciding with the local festival Flavour of Killorglin which is a celebration of culinary delights of the Mid Kerry Region, with great food and entertainment for all visitors.
